The typography workshop was created in 1878 with the aim of printing tickets which should not only be cheaper but also more effective in counterfeiting transport tickets.
The original dies and matrices were manufactured in the seal workshops of the Casa da Moeda.
The workshop had, in particular, a press, a guillotine, manuals, and a punching machine. Another essential instrument was the automatic ticketing machine built at the Carris de Ferro de Lisboa Company Workshops, using the "Chambon" rotary ticket printing machine, in 1954. By means of the individually controlled adjustment device with control Automatic, runs on aggregate electric motor of the "Oerlikon" brand no. 191.13 - type 84.1.4. - 220/380 volts AY 3 phases - 50 cycles - 4.6 / 2.65 Amp.1.5 HP - 1390 RPM. Circuit breaker 'Metrovikers' type DOC 70. Dropped to service in 1993.
